New Year Primary Care Assisted Reproductive Care International Standards Lifestyle Choices Optimum Well-Being Check-Ups Screening

First off, we want to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! Secondly, we want you to know we are always ready to offer exceptional preventative- and primary care as well as assisted reproductive care that adheres to international standards.

Medicentre wants to continue to help you make the right lifestyle choices for a healthier, happier and longer life. Quality of life can improve significantly once you achieve (and put in the effort to maintain) optimum well-being, or if you learn to manage pre-existing or new conditions to the best of your ability.

With that in mind, we encourage you to kick off the year with you and your family’s best interests in mind by booking your first general check-up of 2018.

Recommended Check-ups and Screenings for Men and Women

  • Weight/BMI
  • Cholesterol test
  • Blood pressure test
  • Blood sugar test to assess risk of diabetes
  • Dental check-up to rule out or address cavities, infections or other issues
  • Skin cancer screening: to check irregular marks, skin changes and suspicious moles
  • Colorectal cancer screening: this extremely common cancer is treatable if caught early
  • Glaucoma screening: rule out or diagnose this disease that can damage the optic nerve
  • Eye test to test for near- or far-sightedness, astigmatism and other eye-related problems

For women:

  • Mammogram to check for developing breast cancer
  • Bone mineral density scan to determine risk of osteoporosis
  • Cervical cancer screening: HPV test and liquid-based cytology

For men:

  • Prostate exam to check for prostate cancer
  • Testicular examination to check for testicular cancer

You may also want to confirm you HIV status.

Stay Calm

The list of screenings, tests and check-ups may seem alarming, but it is important to be aware of them. Dependent on age, current health condition and family medical history, certain screenings can be delayed or performed less frequently.

A primary healthcare practitioner will be able to help you determine the most important tests for your circumstances.

Put Your Health and the Health of Your Family First

We also urge you to go for general screenings for the following reasons:

  • Get peace of mind
  • Improve your quality of life
  • You may need more comprehensive screenings
  • Allow medical professionals to diagnose conditions/diseases as early as possible
  • Allow medical professionals to offer treatments or cures for conditions/diseases

You may also benefit from standard vaccinations or vaccination updates.
